#6 A Drive Back To Savage River-Denali NP&P

We just had to go back into the Park one more time. Maybe we would see more animals. Savage River was the destination then, mile 23.

Best of luck! Another mostly clear day and opportunity to once again see Mt. McKinley from inside Denali Park. We have been very lucky!

And then a view of a moose (below).

And a Caribou couple (below).

The moose is the largest member of the deer family. An adult might weigh between 800 and 1,600 pounds. The moose eat twigs of willow, birch and aspen in the fall and winter. In spring they change to eating grasses, sedges and weeds. Often in the summer they are found eating in ponds. The bulls (males) grow very handsome antlers. The females often have twins, sometimes triplets. Moose are not generally aggressive, however, be aware if the cow has her young with her. She will become extremely aggressive.

All too soon we arrive at Savage River; all the farther we can drive in our truck.

By golly we see another Caribou on our way back out today; very close up. They have the cutest white, bunny like tails.

Certainly was worth one last trip into Denali Park. Look for #7 for more around Denali.
