Benny Benson Pond in Seward - A Tribute

The Alaska Flag-blue field for the Alaskan sky, the northern star (top right) for the northern most state of Alaska, 2 stars pointing the way and part of the big dipper for bear-strength.

The plaque honoring Benny for his winning design for the Alaskan flag at the age of 13. At the time Benny was from Seward.

Please click on the pictures of Benny, the explanation of his life and his meaning for the Alaska flag. I thought it was
very well
thought out
for a 13 year
old person.

A veiw across the entire pond, along the road leading into Seward.

If it is not a Bald Eagle then, of course, it must be a Raven (which it is). They both like you to notice them and pay attention.

Swirling, incoming waters enter the pond from a creek across the road.

The seagulls are everywhere, even small ponds.

This is the creek flowing from across the street into Benny Pond.

Exactly as I told you earlier, the eagle is screaming for someone to notice him and he wants the Raven gone from his, the eagle's, perceived territory.

It must be spring (altho it is officially summer now) with the Blue Flay Iris blooming.

  • These homes not only have a view of Benny Benson Pond, they also have a view of the ocean, Rescurrection Bay in Seward.

Even the grasses grow with color in Alaska.

And this beautifully rustic home sits on the edge of the Benny Benson Pond. Almost the perfect place to live.

BBFN, Karen & Don
