Cedar Breaks National Monument

Gad zooks! I spent 3 weeks in Michigan trying to get into my blog to write more and share the National Monuments and Parks we saw when we were in Utah. Silly me, I just couldn't remember my long in name, until I got back home with Don to look up my cheat sheet. I didn't know about Cedar Breaks National Monument until we came upon it in the wilderness. I had to trudge through all the snow you see above to see what Cedar Breaks looks like. The Park wasn't open yet because of the snow.

Cedar Breaks National Monument showcases ancient Bristlecone Pines, some more than 1000
years old. The Park is a huge natural amphi-theater, eroded from the variegated Pink Cliffs. The rim of the canyon is over 10,000 feet above sea level and is forested with Englemann spruce, aspen and subalpine fir.

Spirals and fins were created from the millions of years old sedimentation, which have eroded and uplifted, also creating the deep canyon walls.

Even heading away from the park we continue to see spruce and aspen as well as the strange and beautiful rock formations.

Couldn't get rid of this duplicate pix.

TTFN and be safe on the highways and byways, Karen and Don
