Valdez Life
The salmon finally started "running" in Valdez. The ship coming in (right) has been fishing and below they are busy throwing the fish in the hold.
9-11 security has increased in Valdez and the coast guard goes out, armed with automatics to meet incoming tankers, cruise ships, and almost anything but the local fisherman.
The tug boats in Valdez gave us a show water show one night for business folks in town. It was a lot of fun to watch.
These particular tugs are in Valdez for quick response in case of oil spills.
As you see the days are not always bright and sunny, but the views are still pretty.

These two eagles are waiting for free handouts of fish. Some one in a near by campground serves them fish every day.
The eagle below is an immature, but obviously the parent to the right has taught the baby how to find food without working.

Yep, Valdez has its very own Glacier. It is not much anymore, but at one time it did extend all the way to the bay, Prince William Sound.
We couldn't walk to the face of the glacier but we could manage to walk around parts of the lake created by the glacier & touch some broken ice.
